    Anthem Vegan brings innovative food to virtually all corners of San Diego county – from Otay Mesa, to Carlsbad, to SDSU – through pop-ups and catering! Anthem is known for its tacos, burritos and sandwiches that are full of flavor and impressive mock meats.

    Bite offers gluten-free quinoa bowls via pop-ups and catering around San Diego county, using fresh produce from local farmers markets. Top your bowl with optional toasted nuts and seeds for some added crunch.

  1. CALIFORNIA HOMEMADES (californiahomemades.com)
    California Homemades provides vegan convenience to North County in Escondido, offering soups, salads, sides and sweets to-go. Their call-ahead option can make your pick-up order extra speedy.

    Choice Superfood Bar and Juicery is an organic and gluten free hot spot for juices, salads and more. Grab a Superfood Banana Bread or Protein Brownie if you’re into sweets! Choice Superfoods has three locations in San Diego’s North County: Carlsbad, Del Sur and Solana Beach.

    Cinnaholic sells vegan cinnamon rolls with your choice of frosting flavor and 20+ toppings. Their menu also includes cookies, brownies, coffee and more. Cinnaholic currently has three locations throughout San Diego county, with one more location coming soon. You can find them in the Mission Valley Mall, in Pacific Beach one block from the water, and in the North County Fair Mall. The fourth location will be in the downtown Gaslamp Quarter.

    DOH! is a San Diego based cookie dough maker, offering gluten free dough that is ready to eat or bake. DOH! has pop-ups at several farmers markets through San Diego county, can be found in several grocery stores, and is available on Amazon.com.

  1. DONNA JEAN (donnajeansd.com)
    Donna Jean brings the Los Angeles food scene and Midwest cuisine to San Diego’s Balboa Park area. This sit-down restaurant opened in February 2017 and locals have been buzzing about the Cast Iron Mac and Cheese, Bourbon Chili (2016 winner of a Los Angeles competition for best vegan chili), and upscale-casual atmosphere.

    El Veganito is a North County pop-up offering veganized traditional Mexican dishes. You can find their tacos, burritos, and sandwiches at Tuesday’s Escondido Farmers Market and Thursday’s Oceanside Sunset Market. They are also available for catering.

  1. EVE ENCINITAS (www.eveencinitas.com)
    EVE Encinitas serves nourishing bowls, salads, jackfruit tacos, smoothies, pasta and more. As the name suggests, this eatery is located in Encinitas.

  1. EVOLUTION FAST FOOD (www.evolutionfastfood.com/)
    Evolution Fast Food keeps it quick — complete with grab-and-go options and a drive-through, offering burgers, fries, shakes and even raw items.

  1. KINDRED (www.barkindred.com)
    Kindred has been labeled a “vegan death metal” bar and is located in South Park. It’s well known for its atmosphere and giant wolf head sculpture on the wall. This all-vegan bar is a rarity and certainly one-of-a-kind. It offers innovative and well-loved dishes that make herbivores do a double-take and leave omnivores satisfied.

  1. LOVING HUT MIRA MESA (lovinghut.us/sandiego2/)
    San Diego has two locations of the international restaurant franchise, Loving Hut. Each one offers a unique menu and varying hours. The Mira Mesa location serves distinct dishes like Texas Fries and Cali Burrito along side their excellent Asian cuisine like the Spicy Cha Cha, Royal Noodle Soup and Drunken Noodles. Mira Mesa also has a delectable dessert case and vegan boba.

  1. LOVING HUT NORTH PARK (lovinghut.us/sandiego/)
    Loving Hut North Park was San Diego’s first of this franchise. This location is notable for its Spicy Cha Cha, extensive menu of Asian dishes, as well as burgers and chili fries. It might take you an extra minute to decide on dessert because this location has incredibly beautiful cakes.

    Maya’s Cookies is a gourmet cookie shop based in San Diego and available at several farmers markets and shops. Maya’s has perfected the classic cookie that is crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside, and taken it to the next level with creative flavors such as marshmallow filled s’mores.

  1. MISSION SQUARE MARKET VEGAN DELI (facebook.com/vegansandwiches4all/)
    The deli inside Mission Square Market opened as an all-vegan sandwich shop in March 2017. Sandwiches are served on organic bread and available in customizable combinations or chef’s signature creations. The market itself has quickly become known as vegan-friendly, with owner Sunny showing genuine excitement over plant-based customers. He plans to convert the market to fully vegan when it is sustainable.

    Moncai Café is an organic café located in San Diego’s Normal Heights neighborhood. Moncai has developed an evolving, innovative menu with homestyle foods and a dream-worthy dessert case.

  1. PLANT POWER FAST FOOD (www.plantpowerfastfood.com)
    Plant Power is a growing fast food chain, with one location in Ocean Beach (about 1 mile from the beach) and its next location coming to Encinitas in May 2017. Plant Power has quickly become known for its burgers, milkshakes, soft serve ice cream, and breakfast sandwiches.

    Roots is located on the Muir College campus at the University of California San Diego. It’s the university’s first all-vegan restaurant, serving bowls, burgers, salads, soups and more.

    Southern Fried Vegan is a Los Angeles-based pop-up that makes a monthly appearance in San Diego for special events. It offers chickn and waffles, mac n cheese, greens and other country-style foods.

  1. STARRY LANE BAKERY (www.starrylanebakery.com/)
    Starry Lane Bakery is a bakery that is completely free of the top 11 allergens: eggs, milk, soy, nuts, coconuts, wheat, gluten, peanuts, tree nuts and artificial flavors and colors. This bakery makes classic desserts like shortbread cookies, biscotti, cakes, pies and brownies. Starry Lane will be located in Santee until March 30, 2017; then they can be found in Hillcrest beginning in early May 2017.

    Trilogy Sanctuary is best known for its rooftop view, aerial yoga, and organic, gluten free café that even offers raw options.

    Touted as one of San Diego’s best Thai offerings, Veganic Thai has made a name for itself in the community. Originally opening as a vegetarian restaurant, demand for vegan items convinced this restaurant to go fully vegan in 2016.

    San Diego has two locations of this restaurant chain: Carlsbad and La Jolla UTC. Veggie Grill offers burgers, sandwiches, wings, salads, bowls, soups, desserts and more. Its dishes consistently win over omnivores and herbivores alike.
