Vegan in San Diego, Inc.—a San Diego-based 501(3)(c) nonprofit organization—is organizing a full-scale Vegan Festival, April 15, 2023, at the beautiful Waterfront Park in Downtown San Diego, bringing to San Diego County its own version of the exciting events that are popular across the globe. San Diego Vegan Festival will showcase and educate on the vegan lifestyle in full effect: food, drinks, goods, speakers and more.
Waterfront Park not only offers a spectacular view of the San Diego Bay, this venue includes a children’s playground and water feature, wide open lawns and shade by palm trees. Guests will be encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs to pick their preferred location to enjoy a fully vegan picnic with food available for purchase from San Diego’s finest vegan friendly vendors and top-notch vendors from near and far.
Vegan in San Diego has successfully produced a monthly all-vegan night market called First Friday Night Market which started in a small lot in North Park and more than doubled in size and attendance with its move to Grossmont Center in September 2019. Average attendance to this monthly party now ranges from 2,000-3,000 attendees, with an ever-growing demand. VSD has also produced a successful annual vegan taco cook-off in City Heights with ticketed attendance ranging from 350-500 attendees. VSD hosts an annual winter food and goods drive (in 2018 and 2022 this was hosted at First Friday Night Market) to achieve its goal in supporting and giving back to its community. From the first whispers of event planning, the Vegan in San Diego team has aspired to produce a full-scale vegan festival. With the success of its current events, and experience the team has gained, VSD is prepared to bring San Diego Vegan Festival to fruition.

The VSD social media footprint is San Diego’s largest, with a collective following of more than 26,500 as of October 2022 (20.7k+ on Instagram, 5,400+ on Facebook, 398 on Twitter, and an average of 3,000+ monthly website visits to www.veganinsandiego.com). Our new Instagram account dedicated to the festival has more than 2,600 followers to date and our First Friday Instagram account has nearly 6,000 followers. Local businesses frequently express gratitude for our organization and the impact we have in the San Diego community, helping locals and visitors find vegan options throughout the county while helping small businesses thrive and grow.
